Before using your Genius device, we recommend you do the following:
- Check your Genius device has an IP address and a host name
- Run a test to check your Genius device can connect to our gateway
- Run a test transaction on your Genius device
Check your Genius device has an IP address and a host name
The IP address of your Genius device is available on the Administration screen. To access the Administration screen:
- From the Genius splash screen, use the keypad to press 000.
- Use the keypad to type the password, then press Enter. The default password is 9416557.
- Check there is an address next to the IP address field and a host name next to the Hostname field.
- If either field is not populated, check your Genius device is functioning correctly.

Check your Genius device connects with the gateway
Run gateway tests to check that your gateway connections are working correctly. To run gateway tests:
- From the Genius splash screen, use the keypad to press 000.
- Use the keypad to type the password, then press Enter. The default password is 9416557.
- Tap Network.
- Tap Test.
- Confirm all the tests have Passed.
- If the tests do not pass, check your Genius device is functioning correctly.

Run a test transaction
We recommend that you use your POS to run a test transaction.
- If the test transaction transfers successfully to the Genius device, cancel the test transaction and start running live sales.
- If the test transaction does not transfer successfully, check your Genius device is functioning correctly.
