First Data sends you a B notice when the legal filing name, Social Security Number (SSN), or Tax Identification Number (TIN) that you have provided to us does not match the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) records. The B notice informs you of the IRS’s intention to withhold 28% of your daily funds, which is known as backup withholding.
Note: A B notice is also known as a CP2100 or a CP2100A.
If you receive a second B notice within three calendar years from your first notice, there is still a problem with the information that you have provided.
